Marta Araújo (PhD, University of London, 2003) is Principal Researcher at the Centro de Estudos Sociais da Universidade de Coimbra (CES) and teaches at the doctoral level. Her research has focused on two complementary lines: i) public and school history, with a focus on narratives of (anti-)colonialism and enslavement; ii) public policies, political discourse, and ethnic-racial equality. She was a Visiting Researcher at the Centre for Research on Ethnic Relations and Nationalism (CEREN) at the University of Helsinki and is a member of the Observatory of Education and Training Policies (CeiED/CES). Marta Araújo serves on the Editorial Board of publications on sociology, ‘race’, and education in Brazil, the United States, Great Britain, and Portugal, and has published internationally in prestigious journals such as the British Journal of Sociology of Education, Ethnic and Racial Studies, Patterns of Prejudice, and Race, Ethnicity and Education. Marta Araújo has consulted on academic matters related to discrimination and ethnic-racial equality and has participated in experts’ meetings at national and international levels, as well as being actively involved in outreach activities.
