Catarina Casais, 1997, Porto. She is a Visual Arts teacher at middle school and secondary school in Portugal, as well as a researcher in the field of Arts Education. Catarina Casais holds a degree in Theatre – Costume Design from the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo (ESMAE – P. Porto), a master’s degree in Drawing from the Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto (FBAUP) and a master’s degree in Teaching Visual Arts from the Faculdade de Psicologia e Ciências da Educação da Universidade do Porto (FPCEUP). She is currently an approved PhD candidate in Arts Education at FBAUP. Catarina Casais is a fellowship holder in the project “[in]visibility of identities in Portuguese 1st grade elementary textbooks of Social & Environmental Studies after 1974”, funded by FCT (2022.05056.PTDC) at the Institute for Research in Art, Design and Society (i2ADS). A resident artist at Atelier Sem Forma, Catarina Casais also participates as a researcher in the groups IDENTIDADES_Colectivo de Acção/Investigação (ID_CAI) at i2ADS and Rede Internacional de Investigação em Artes, Educação Artística e Arte/Educação (enREDE) where she works on decolonial and anti-discriminatory issues in Arts Education.
